All window tinting deteriorates with age and are eventually removed. Two of the most common symptoms of dying film is the dreaded "purple tint" and the "bubbling tint". Purple tinting is broken by non-metallic dyes in the tint and color changes caused. Bubbling tint is a sign that the glue failed on the shade to the window application. After a single bubble appears, many more will follow. If you try to remove the window tinting simply by peeling, you will probably end up with a sticky mess on the glass, which takes several hours. Here is how to prevent this.
Sun and ammonia Method This technique requires a sunny day. If you live in an area where it is cloudy and you suspect there is not enough sunlight to heat the rear window, alternative techniques considered below.
Cut two black garbage bags in about the shape of the window. Spray soapy water on the outside of the window and cover it with one of the black garbage bags. Smooth plastic flat.
Protect all inside surfaces near the window with a tarp: speakers, rear light and padded surfaces, then spray the entire window tinting with undiluted ammonia. Undiluted ammonia has a strong odor. It is recommended that you hold your breath or wear a face mask. Ammonia fumes can be dangerous and different individuals respond differently to the exposure to the fumes.
While the ammonia is still wet, the ammonia catch against the window with a garbage bag or other window tinting. Park the car with the appropriate window to the sun for an hour to the hue of the adhesive. You can speed the process with a hair dryer to speed up the high temperatures and high rotational speed and the elimination of the inner layer of black plastic, but it will need extra moisture by drying of the hair dryer. Most window tinting is built from multiple layers of film. If left under the hot sun, the garbage bags will absorb heat, and the window tinitng will pull off in 1 piece.
Start peeling the window film. Use the lift with a fingernail or razor blade to open the film in a corner of the window, and try to pull the tint in a whole piece. Be careful not scraping the defroster lines. Keep the window tint wet with ammonia as you strip. With a razor blade scrape off any tint that not peel.
Remove Any residual adhesive with ammonia and fine steel wool, then wipe the surface with a paper towel before it dries and clean the window thoroughly with glass cleaner.
Soap, newspaper and Easy Off BAM!
Apply soapy detergent water to the window with a household sponge, and cover with newspaper. Allow about an hour (with the paper on, again, the soap water on the paper every 20 minutes or so to seep moisture to maintain by).
With a razor blade from the hardware store, just scrape off the top layer of tinted film with long strokes. Just again, the soapy water and paper again and leave for about half an hour, when the top layer does not come off in long strips.
This step is that awesome bit today, I discovered, after trying other things, to remove the remaining fine remove tinting..... Easy Off Bam! Seriously, you just spray it on after the start of the first layer, and simply rub the blade on the hue. It comes off easily without any effort at all, in fact I think I saw, by the blowing of "Bam" that it happened as I sprayed it off without scratching at all of me (of course l ran it with a razor blade, but I do not believe that L needed )!
Heat Method: If it is not sunny or warm enough, or would you rather not mess with razor blades and ammonia, you can use a clothes steamer (about U.S. $ 25) to "Prep" for peeling the tint. You can also use a hair dryer or heat gun, but be conservative. It produces more heat than the steamer.
Steam a corner of the shade, keep off the steamer 1/2-2 "(1.25-5cm) from him until you get your fingernail.
Peel and steam at the same time, peel the relaxation of the adhesive with the steam in front of you. Peel slowly. If you pull too hard, you can break the color or even worse, pull the top layer of color, while the heavy and sticky adhesive off the remaining glue behind.
Wipe hard with a towel. press, so that the glue sticks the towel, instead of balling up or smudge. vapors of glue before wiping the window can help.
Clean thoroughly with glass cleaner.
Soaking and scraping Method: If not to the other methods, or if it is used a small area of color, this method can be used (although it is time consuming).
Make a small incision in the foil with a razor blade, creating a tab that you can tint pull.
Peel. It will not cover, clean, you can break it into several pieces.
Spray water.
Scrape or separation of the adhesive with soapy water, the adhesive off with a razor blade. Make sure to get it all.
Clean the window thoroughly with glass cleaner.
Tape method: If the first layer dissolves and leaves the second layer, the Duck Tape (name brand with strong adhesive) Remove the second layer.
Apply the tape in the rows overlap by one inch or so over the purple film.
Leave the tape on the windowsill in the sun for an hour or two, so that the band sticks to the film
Remove of the tape. The movie should stand with the band. Try a small area about the time needed for the sun to heat up tape.
If the test strip does not work for free for the first time, bring a tape to allow a little longer for the glue on the tape to the film hold .5 use of ammonia or 409 and a plate washer to remove the glue.
